How long will it take for the higher ups to realize that all these hurricanes, typhoons, etc, are quite possibly due to the depletion of the environment?!?!
When will North Americans realize that you do not need a 45 cylinder, 8000 horse power, 22 liter engine to drive your lazy fat ass to the grocery store down the street and yet still manage to complain about gas prices?
When will oil companies realize that they can stop lying to us about 'price-fixing" because in reality, even if they came right out and told us that they were indeed screwing us in the arse on purpose, there would be nothing we would do because after all getting off the couch takes work?

Re: Hurricanes....and people that complain about gas prices.
Thu, September 22, 2005 - 12:09 PMInteresting point Rick. The irony is that sitting on the couch and not driving might actually help the environment. -

Mon, October 10, 2005 - 11:55 AMAHAHAHAHA!
Ok, well the thought of walking to my job is enough to make me want to commit suicide. I am a researcher and I have to drive two hours to work, then I have to drive all over the field site for several hours. Then I drive to the campsite for the evening which is 30 minutes away and then back again in the morning for another fun filled day of hot sweaty walking around from drive point to drive point. Then I get the two hour drive back home, and at that point, I will be damned if I am going to pack me and all my data the 6 miles back to my house from the lab by foot. Fuck that! I drive a a big ass Ford too, huge, I think it's called a Titan. Or something. And I have to since I can't off-road in my piece-of-shit falling apart still haven't finished paying for rice burning Kia.
I still laugh at people who own Hummers, having driven a HMMWV in the military. But hey....
If you really want to see a dramatic decrease in fuel usage, try conserving that hot water. Try conserving your household electricity. Turn the water heater down a few notches. Set your thermostat at a higher temperature and use a fan to circulate the cool air more effeciently. Buy some freakin screens for your doors and windows and open them on breezy days so you can turn off the AC. This same power saving method needs to be used in corporations, municipalities etc... The individual driving the Tahoe is not the main problem. The VAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST waste of resources by our own cities government buildings, the corporations who can afford exhorbitant light bills, etc is the main problem. Fuel prices at the gas pump is a reprocussion of total fuel consumption to play your stereo, watch TV, and run your AC on full blast all at once. Conserve and you will see prices dwindle until they realize that we got wise to them and raise the prices to cover their losses.
Wow, it felt good to ramble while ranting. -
